Banepa sindhuli bardibas highway Road
An alternative highway which connects Kathmandu with eastern Terai via Banepa and Sindhuli has come in operation with the opening of Khalte-Khurkot section on Monday. Earlier, transportation was available from the capital to Khalte.
The completion of construction work of the 4 km Khalte-Khurkot section has connected the 158 km Bardibas-Sindhuli-Banepa highway with the east-west highway at Bardibas. The alternative route will reduce the journey from Kathmandu to Bardibas and other cities east of Bardibas by 200 km. The opening of the highway is also expected to provide people an alternative route to travel to eastern Terai when the areas west of Bardibas are obstructed by strikes. Strikes and obstruction of traffic in the highway has become commonplace in Terai in the recent days.
