13-year-old swimmer Gaurika Singh wins 100m but fails to enter next round




Nepal’s Gaurika Singh entered the pool for Heat 1 of the women’s 100m backstroke event at the Olympics Aquatics Stadium in Rio De on Sunday as the youngest athlete in the 2016 Rio Summer Olympics. She finished first in the heat with the timing of 1:08.45, but was ranked 31st among 34 backstrokers. This meant she did not qualify for the next round. The teenager is the youngest Athlete to compete in this year's Olympic Games, and is 13 years and 255 days old. With a time of 1 minute 8.45 seconds, there is no guarantee yet that it will be enough to claim a place in the semi-finals.
