Bhatbhateni Supermarket found selling expire food items



The market monitoring mobilized by Ministry of Commerce and Supplies on Tuesday has found many irregularities in the market. The team found Bhatbhateni Supermarket at Chuchchepati, Chabahil, selling inedible items. Pulse, rice, flour and gram items found in a shop in Bhatbhateni had passed their sell-by dates. Madhav Timilsina, one of the monitoring team members, said that Bhatbhateni Food Products in the fourth floor had stored expired food items. The Supermarket was keeping edible items that had been recalled from the market. The monitoring team sealed the shop. Since 1984 A.D, Bhat-Bhateni has grown from a ‘single shutter’ 120 sq. ft. cold store to become the leading supermarket and departmental store chain in Nepal, and the highest tax payer in the sector since 2008 A.D. with more than 40,000 customers daily.There are currently twelve (12) stores conveniently located in central Kathmandu and other major cities of Nepal.
