11 justice seekers for Gangamaya arrested from Baluwatar



Police detained 11 rights activists demonstrating outside the prime minister residence Baluwatar demanding justice for Ganga Maya Adhikari on Sunday. Rights defender Charan Prasai said that police picked them from the protest site saying the spot is restricted zone for any kind of gathering and protest. "We wanted to draw the attention of the government towards the demands of Ganga Maya, who is in critical health condition," said Prasai. "We want the government implement the court order." Ganga Maya has resumed fast-unto-death demanding arrest of the murderer of her teenage son Krishna Prasad Adhikari, allegedly abducted and killed by then-rebel Maoists in 2004.


She along with her husband Nanda Prasad had started for a fast-onto-death, demanding justice to their murdered son in 2013. Nanda Prasad died last year during the hunger strike, while Ganga Maya agreed to break her hunger strike and survived on liquid food . Police detained Indra Aryal, Suman adhikari, Rasana Dhakal, Shova Maharjan, Sabitri Shrestha, Krishna Hari Aryal, Bachchu Rijal, Rabin Basnet, Charan Prasai, Sushila Sharma Simkhada and Bhajaraj Chapagain in a police station in Kamal Pokhari.myrepublica
